Collaborations within health care

What is Geras Solutions?

Geras Solutions provides digital assessment and decision support for dementia assessment in cases of suspected cognitive disease. The methodology has been developed in collaboration with both healthcare centers and specialist clinics and has been clinically tested by Karolinska University Hospital.

Using a tablet, patients and relatives can administer parts of the assessment themselves. The results are automatically interpreted and presented in a separate interface for healthcare professionals.
Via referral or referral to Minnesmottagnignen.se, comprehensive cognitive assessment is also provided to relieve the burden on healthcare centers throughout the country.

Cognitive test

The digital tool includes cognitive screening tests performed by the patient at the clinic or home. The test is a further development of traditional paper-and-pen tests (MoCA, MMSE, and clock-test). The tool collects a large amount of data on how the test is conducted and provides cut-off scores to distinguish subjective cognitive impairment, mild cognitive impairment, and suspected cognitive disease/dementia. The test has, in the clinical study, demonstrated higher sensitivity and specificity than other established methods. The time required for tests is also recorded and contributes with additional decision-making documents with limits based on the same clinical study. Every patient is assessed on; memory, visuospatial ability, executive functions, attention/working memory, language, and orientation.

Medical history

Complete anamnesis with the tool, carried it out, either by the patient himself with the support of a relative, or by healthcare professional. Health professionals determine cross-cutting areas and intelligent question batteries ask supplementary questions. The anamnesis covers: general information about the patient, perceived cognitive symptoms based on each domain, general health status, heredity, medication, mental health, stress, attention span, addiction, risk factors, and lifestyle/habits.

Family History with Neurocognitive Symptom Questionnaire

Relatives can easily contribute with their views on symptom development via the digital version of the neurocognitive symptom questionnaire (CIMP-QUEST). By answering the questions in this well-established framework, a summary generates automatically as an additional basis for decision-making. Ensure consistency by involving relatives and compare the patient's observations to the relatives'. The healthcare interface also provides a reference library with profiles for various cognitive disorders and easily compares them to the patient's profile.

Instant compilation of results

Healthcare professionals can choose which parts of the assessment the patient and relatives should perform. Once these are complete, the results are instantly compiled in the clinical assessment tool for evaluation. Upon patient revisits, compare results without hassle to get a clear picture of progress.

Methods to prevent cognitive impairment and dementia

The FINGER study has revolutionized the approach to brain health. It shows the possibilities of reducing the risk of cognitive impairment by changing lifestyle factors in different risk groups. Via the app " Minnesmottagningen " the patient and relatives have access to a risk reduction tool based on parts of the FINGER study. Here you will find information and support to follow habits related to diet, exercise, social interaction and activities to train the brain.

What others say about Geras Solutions

"With Geras, we have the opportunity to shorten the time of the cognitive assessment process drastically and, at the same time, get access to a much better basis for decision making."
Göran Hagman, Neuropsychologist
Karolinska University Hospital
"In modern health care, cognitive impairment is considered as important as heart failure or other severe disability. Digital tools that the patient himself can access for increased knowledge and self-care are a major advancement as well as validated online tests that can facilitate both diagnostics and early treatment"
